Greetings!
Photographing the lotus flower is not an easy undertaking. It is a magnificent flower but relatively uncommon, at least in the U.S. Where it grows it is abundant, but to get close to the flower one must wade down the muddy bank of the ponds trying to take care not to injure the sensitive roots, nor to be cut up mercilessly by the sharp barbs of the stems. The sun cannot be too bright or the whites are washed out and you have to take care of how your shadow lays upon the flower. Most people are at best bemused seeing you slowly wading out into the water, though some are concerned about your presence.
I love these flowers. I love the scent of the just opening bud, the colors and shadows of the petals, the bees hovering and crawling over the pistils and stamens, the dew on the flowers in the morning and the reflections on the water. I love the discovery of the one out of 50 images which take your breath away. I love their purity and beauty.
If you are looking for images of lotus flowers I do not know if you will find a better site with so many choices to look at. The 200 plus images here represent a fifth of the photographs I have taken. And each year we will update the folders with new images.
We offer a 6" x 8" size image which you can download after purchasing it through Paypal. For usage details please see licensing and terms of use.
We also have a “sister” website, www.dharmameg.com which hosts a number of unusual and beautiful flower images (orchids, tropicals, irises, daturas, roses and many more). Though this site does not currently have an on-line store, the images on this site are also available for purchase.
Lastly, if you know of any ponds, private or public, where I would be welcome to photograph either lotus or water lilies, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Warmest Regards.
